Set up event types and templates

Clinic admins can give the calendar color-coded event types and ready-made templates, so everyone's events look consistent and take seconds to add.

Open Clinic Settings from your account menu, then choose Calendar.

Event types

Event types are categories, like Meeting, Training, Holiday or PTO. Each has its own color and icon.

1. Open the Event types tab.
2. Click Add event type.
3. Enter the Name, then pick an Icon (optional), Background and Text color. A preview shows the result.
4. Click Add type.

Click Edit on a row to change a type, then Save. Click Delete to remove one and confirm. Events that used it stay on the calendar with their color, just without a type. Drag rows to reorder them. Each change shows a Saved message with an Undo button.

Templates

Templates are pre-made events staff pick from Start from a template when adding an event.

1. Open the Templates tab.
2. Click Add template.
3. Enter a Template name (what staff see on the button) and an Event title (what lands on the calendar).
4. Pick an Icon, an Event type (or No type) and a Color (or Type color).
5. Set the Length in days, from 1 to 31.
6. Turn on Ask who it's for if the event is about one person, like a birthday or PTO. Staff then have to pick a person.
7. Add Notes to prefill, like an agenda outline.
8. Click Save.

Put {name} in the event title and it's replaced with the person picked. For example, {name}'s birthday becomes "Sam's birthday".

Use the pencil and trash buttons on a row to edit or delete a template. Deleting asks you to confirm, and doesn't remove events already made from it. Drag templates to change their order.

Starter templates

houndkit has a set of starter templates: Staff meeting, CE day, Holiday, Team lunch, Birthday, PTO and Staff pet vet day. Click Restore starter templates to add any that are missing from your list. Your own templates aren't touched.
