What Labs is for
Start here · step 12 of 31
Labs is a shared board for tracking lab work from the moment it's ordered until results are reviewed and the lab is done. Here's how the board is laid out.
The board at a glance
Each row is one lab entry. The columns are:
- submitted: who logged it and when.
- patient / client: the patient, with the client under it.
- labs ordered: one chip per lab, like CBC or chemistry.
- ordered by: the doctor who ordered it.
- status: where the lab is in your workflow.
- last update: when it last changed, and who changed it.
Open rows are tinted with their status color, so you can scan the board at a glance. Finished labs are faded.
What you can do
- Log a new lab with New Entry. See Log a lab.
- Open an entry to change its status, attach result PDFs, chat with your team, or mark it done. See Update a lab.
- Filter by status or doctor, and search by patient or client. See Find labs.
- Copy an entry into your PIMS with one click.
The board updates live as teammates make changes.
Statuses
Your clinic chooses its own statuses in settings. If none are set up, Labs uses Pending, In Progress, Resulted and Complete. On top of those, any lab can be marked Done, which takes it off the open board.
Tip
Clinic admins set up lab types, statuses and the copy format in Clinic Settings → Labs. See Set up Labs.
