Set up your clinic's logs
Clinic admins build logs to fit the way your clinic works. Start from a houndkit template or make your own.
Go to Clinic Settings → Logs, or tap Manage logs on the Logs page.
Start from a template
Open Start from a template. houndkit's templates include Microchip insertions, Euthanasia log, Rabies tags issued, Fridge temperatures, Autoclave cycles and X-ray log. Tap one to add it. Each becomes your own copy, so rename it, add or drop columns, and change the choices however you like.
Make a log
- On the Logs tab, tap New log.
- Pick an icon and give it a Name, plus an optional line under What goes in it.
- Add your columns under Columns, and choose each one's type.
- Tap Save.
Column types
- Short text and Long text
- Number, like a temperature or an amount
- Date, which starts on today's date, and Time
- Pick one, from a list of choices
- Yes / No
- Team member, which starts on whoever is logging
- Checkbox (tick off later): a step done later, like "Card mailed". It keeps who ticked it and when.
- Due date (days after logging): a send-by date. Set how many days after the entry it Starts, and what it Clears when: the row being marked done, or a particular checkbox being ticked.
Open and Done
Turn on Rows can be marked done for logs that work like a checklist. The log then shows Open and Done, and open rows with a due date sort first.
Turn on Close a row by itself too, and a row is marked done as soon as every checkbox on it is ticked. This needs at least one checkbox column.
Change a log later
You can add, rename or reorder columns any time. Removing a column that entries already used keeps it on those entries. Find it under Removed columns and tap Bring back if you need it again.
To retire a whole log, tap Archive. It's hidden from the team, but its entries are kept. Tap Restore under Archived to bring it back.
Tip
If a due date column can never clear, for example because rows can't be marked done and it isn't linked to a checkbox, the setup check flags it for you.
