Record an appointment
Record a visit in Magic Notes and get a drafted note a few moments after you finish. You can also upload a recording you made another way.
Record
- Open Magic Notes on the Notes tab.
- Click Record appointment. The first time, your browser asks to use the microphone. Allow it.
- Put your phone or computer where it can hear the conversation.
- Use Pause and Resume if you need a break, such as while you step out of the room.
- Click Finish when the appointment is over.
While you record, you'll see Recording — keep this screen open. Keep the page open until you finish. If the recording is interrupted, for example by a phone call, houndkit saves what it captured.
Upload a recording instead
Click Upload audio, or drag a file onto it. You can use .mp3, .m4a, .wav, .webm, .ogg or .flac files up to 25 MB.
What happens next
The note shows in My notes and moves through these steps:
- Uploading… then Transcribing… while the audio becomes text.
- Writing note… while the note is drafted. You can watch it appear.
- Ready when it's done.
houndkit uses your default template to write the note. If a note stops at Transcribed, open it, pick a template and click Generate note.
Tip
Say findings out loud as you examine the patient, like "heart rate 120, no murmur." What's said is what gets written down.
If something goes wrong
- Microphone access was blocked: allow the microphone for this site in your browser settings, then try again.
- Recording isn't supported in this browser: use Upload audio instead.
- A note marked Error shows what went wrong when you open it.
