What Tell Tail is for
Start here · step 23 of 31
Tell Tail is triage and client-care practice for your front desk and assistants. You read the patient, hear the client, and decide what to do, and every case is put together fresh so no two rounds are the same.
What you can practice
The home page groups the modes into three:
Is it urgent? Sort who needs help first.
- Triage: front desk and phone. How urgent, what it could be, what to say, what to ask.
- Busy lobby: four patients walk in at once. Who goes first?
- Rule it out: the client thinks it's one thing. What do you ask to make sure it isn't something worse?
Talking with clients. What to ask, what to say.
- What do they mean?: clients don't always say what they're seeing. Learn the questions that find out.
- Say it right: talk with clients in your clinic's words. Kind, clear, professional.
- Phone scripts: the calls with a policy behind them.
Hands on. In the room with the patient.
- History room: ask what matters, read the patient, take vitals, tell the DVM.
- Body language & vitals: when to go ahead, go slow, get help, or give space and wait for the DVM.
- Handling & safety: low-stress handling. Read the patient, keep everyone safe, know when to stop.
At the top, Today's DailyDX is one diagnosis puzzle a day for the whole team.
It's yours
Tell Tail marks everything itself. There's no grader, and nobody else sees your practice. The How you're doing panel shows your rounds this week, days practiced, anything worth another look, and your Tell Tail badges.
The one exception: if a manager puts a Tell Tail session on your training plan, they see how many qualifying rounds you've played for it, and nothing else.
Levels
Most modes come in three levels:
| Level | What changes |
|---|---|
| Starter | The complaint itself tells you |
| Core | Who the patient is, or one finding, changes it |
| Experienced | A calm-sounding complaint with an urgent detail buried in it |
Note
Tell Tail comes with Training & SOPs. It's for practice, not medical advice: when in doubt in real life, follow your clinic's protocol and ask the DVM.
