Fill in a handout

Handouts are templates with blanks for each patient's details. Fill in the blanks, answer any questions, then print, copy or save a PDF to give the client.

Open a handout

1. In Docs, click the Handouts tab.
2. Click the handout you need. It opens as a page on the left with a panel on the right.

Fill it in

• Patient & visit: the details on every handout, such as patient name, client name, species, weight, date and doctor. Today's date is filled in for you.
• Pet pronouns: pick he / him / his, she / her / hers or they / them / their. One click fills every pronoun in the handout.
• Questions: pick an answer, such as general anesthesia or sedation. Only the answers you pick print. pick any means you can choose more than one.
• Add-ons: tick any optional sections you want to include.
• The rest: any other blanks. Where you see names to click, like a list of doctors, click one instead of typing.
• Clinic info: your clinic's details, filled in from settings. You can change them for this handout only.

You can also work on the page itself. Click a highlighted word to fill in that blank. Click any other text to reword that part. For bigger changes, click Edit the whole text, and Back to template wording to undo them.

If a blank asks for a referral clinic or regular vet, use Pick from the Directory to fill in that practice's details.

Print, copy or PDF

Choose a text size with S, M or L, then click Copy, Print or PDF.

Unfinished handouts

If you leave a handout partway through, it's saved in this browser for 24 hours. It shows under Unfinished on the Handouts tab with the patient's name. Click Carry on to pick it up, or Discard to drop it. Unfinished handouts only show on the computer where you started them.
