What On the Way is for
Start here · step 11 of 31
On the Way is your board of patients who are heading to the clinic: walk-ins who called ahead, referrals, and clients who filled in your online form. It helps the front desk and the treatment team see who's coming, how urgent they are, and what's been done.
The board at a glance
Each row is one incoming patient. The columns are:
- logged: who added it and when. A form icon means it came in through your online form.
- patient / client: the patient or signalment, with the client under it.
- complaint: why they're coming in.
- triage: a colored dot for how urgent it is.
- date / ETA: the planned visit date and expected arrival time.
- status: where they are in your workflow, like on the way or arrived.
- CSR flags: small badges for front desk checks, like "Quoted exam fee".
Entries for today (and any earlier dates still open) are at the top. Entries for later dates sit in a faded Future section underneath, which you can collapse.
The board updates live as teammates make changes.
What you can do
- Add a patient with New Entry. See Log an incoming patient.
- Open an entry to update triage, status and flags, chat, and archive it. See Update and archive an entry.
- Filter, search and look through the archive. See Find On the Way entries.
- See what arrives from your online forms. See Entries from your online forms.
Clinic alerts
When a clinic admin sets an alert, like a shutdown or a waitlist, a banner shows across the top of the board for everyone. See Set a clinic alert.
Tip
Clinic admins set up triage levels, statuses, flags, alerts and online forms in Clinic Settings → On the Way. See Set up On the Way.
