Request records from another clinic
Ask another practice for a patient's records in a minute. They get a branded email with a secure link, and anything they upload lands on the request.
Make the request
- Open Records and click Request from a clinic (or New Request in the toolbar).
- Under Request From, make sure External Clinic is selected.
- In External Clinic, start typing. Pick a practice from your Directory, or type a new name.
- Fill in Patient, Client, Client Phone and Client Email as needed.
- Tick anything under Records Requested, such as lab results or a discharge summary.
- Add Internal tags and Notes if they help. Tags are for your team only and are never sent.
- Paste the patient's PIMS link if you have it. It is also internal, and gives whoever files the records a one-click shortcut.
- Leave Send request email now ticked and click Create & Send Email. To save it without sending, untick it and click Create Request.
A clinic that isn't in your Directory
If you type a name that isn't in the Directory, you'll get an email box and a Save to clinic directory for future use checkbox. The email is optional, but the request can't be emailed without one. You can also save the clinic later with Add to directory on the request.
Note
If a Directory practice shows no email, the request is saved but can't be emailed. Add the address in the Directory, then send it from the request.
Sending later
Requests you save without sending show up in Ready to request. Click Send next to one to email it. If it says needs an email, open the request and add one first.
To ask the same owner's pet for records from another practice, open the request and click New request for patient. The patient and client details carry over.
