What Tasks is for
Start here · step 10 of 31
Tasks is your clinic's shared to-do board for patient follow-ups: callbacks, refill requests, lab questions, anything someone needs to pick up. In the menu it's called Taskboard. This article walks you through the board so you know where everything is.
The board at a glance
Each row is one task. The columns are:
- submitted: who logged it and when.
- task type: a colored label your admins set up, like a refill or a callback.
- patient: the patient, with the client name under it.
- task note: what needs doing.
- target: the person or group it's assigned to.
- status: an icon for Not reviewed, In progress or Done.
- last update: when it last changed, and who changed it.
A red warning triangle in the status column means the task is Overdue. It hasn't been touched in more than 24 hours and isn't done yet.
What you can do
- Log a new task with New Task. See Add a task.
- Click any row to open it, chat about it, attach files and change its status. See Work on a task.
- Hand it to someone else or change its type. See Reassign a task or change its type.
- Narrow the board with the status dropdown, Filter and search. See Find tasks.
- Copy a task into your PIMS. See Copy a task into your records.
The board updates live, so you see your teammates' changes without refreshing.
Extras your clinic may have
- Records to send: if your clinic uses Records, a Record to send button and a collapsible table sit on this board too. See Records to send on the task board.
- Pre-Assignment review: if your admins turned it on, new tasks wait in a review queue before they reach the open board. See Pre-Assignment review.
- Plan limit: some plans cap how many tasks can be open at once. When yours does, the toolbar shows how many open tasks you have out of the limit.
Tip
Clinic admins set up task types, task groups and copy formats in Clinic Settings → Tasks. See Set up task types and task groups.
