Track catheters, belongings and paperwork

A patient's sheet keeps track of the catheter that's in, what came in with them, and the forms and files that go with the stay.

Log a catheter

1. On the Catheter card, tap Catheter placed.
2. Pick What went in (IV catheter, central line, arterial line or urinary catheter), the Gauge and Where. Type a site if it isn't listed.
3. Add Sticks it took, the Time, and Who placed it. Pick Someone else… to type a name for someone not on houndkit.
4. Add anything worth knowing, then tap Log it.

Only the time is required, so you can log it now and fill in the rest later.

The card counts the hours the line has been in. After 72 hours it turns amber and says most wards would want a fresh one. It's a reminder only. The board also shows the line and its age on the patient's card.

A patient has one catheter in at a time. Tapping New one in logs the new line and records the old one as removed and replaced.

Remove a catheter

Tap Catheter out, pick Why it came out, set the time, note how the site looked, and tap Out it comes. Removed catheters stay under Earlier catheters, so next time you can see that the last one took three tries.

If you logged a catheter by mistake, tap Logged by mistake to delete it.

Log belongings

1. On the Belongings card, tap Log something.
2. Describe it, such as "red collar with rabies tag". Add how many and where it's kept if useful.
3. Tap Add.

When the item goes home, tap Home next to it. If that was wrong, tap the undo arrow to mark it as still here. Anything still here at discharge is listed so you can send it all home in one tick.

Attach files and forms

The Attachments card holds the stay's paperwork, such as consents, estimates and discharge instructions.

• Tap + Upload file to add a file from your device.
• Tap + Attach form response to link a form a client filled in through Docs. Search by form, client or patient and tap the one you want.

The Handouts and Forms links at the top of the card open Docs. Tap an attachment to open it. To remove one, hover over it and tap the ✕.
