Set up Hospital

Clinic admins set up how Hospital works for the whole clinic: who orders medications, when an entry counts as late, chart hours, overdue alerts, your tags, timings and normal ranges.

Go to Clinic Settings → Hospital. It has five sub-tabs: Overview, Workflow, Orders, Charting and Discharge & surgery. Overview shows how everything is set at a glance and lists anything that still needs setting up. Tap a tile to jump to that setting.

Workflow

Everything on the Workflow sub-tab saves as you change it. A Saved message pops up with an Undo button in case you change your mind.

Treatment sheet

Sheet hours: the hours the chart opens on, like the columns on a paper sheet. Staff scroll sideways for anything outside them.
Late entries: how many minutes after the fact a charted entry counts as late. Late entries are marked on the chart, the activity log and the PDF.
Notes on the patient page: choose Round notes + handoff, or one General notes box instead.

Doctors

Every medication needs a doctor: when on, every med and fluid order needs a doctor. A med entered by someone other than that doctor shows "waiting on the doctor" until the DVM confirms it on the sheet.
Doctor list (backup): doctors come from the group marked as DVM in Clinic Settings → Groups. That's what lets a doctor confirm their own orders. If you don't have a DVM group yet, type a fallback list of doctor names here, one per line, written how they should print (for example "Dr. Miller"). It saves when you click away.
Where doses come from: medication orders are built from your clinic's pharmacy (Knowledge → Pharmacy in Training & SOPs), including the strengths you stock, your dose ranges and each doctor's preferences. Anything not written up there can still be typed by hand.

Team and alerts

Primary team member: choose a Schedule job role, and whoever works that role on today's published schedule is shown as each patient's primary. Or leave it on Picked by hand.
Overdue alerts: how many minutes overdue a treatment must be before houndkit sends an in-app notification. Under Who gets them, pick the teams (or Everyone). The patient's primary team member is told too. Each dose alerts once. Set the minutes to 0 to turn alerts off.

Team members can also get these by email by turning on Hospital emails in their own notification settings.

Timing presets

Presets let a q12h med run at set times, such as 8:30 AM and 5 PM. On Orders → Timing presets, tap Add preset, give it a label like "AM / PM", type the times separated by commas, and tap Save presets. Presets show under How often, as or at set times, when anyone sets how often an order runs.

Normal ranges

On Charting → Normal ranges, set normal temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, CRT and pain ranges per species. Readings outside the range turn red but are never blocked. Leave a pair blank to stop flagging it. Tap Add species for another species. Tap Save ranges.
