Customize orders, checks and the discharge record

Clinic admins can change the checks on every sheet, what the order panel offers, the check groups and order sets doctors use, and what goes into the discharge record.

All of these are in Clinic Settings → Hospital: the order panel, check groups and order sets on the Orders sub-tab, the checks on Charting, and the discharge record on Discharge & surgery.

Ins / Outs

These are the checks on every treatment sheet and in the Quick log card: feeding, walks, urine, stool and so on. Find them on Charting → Ins / outs.

• Rename a check, change its icon, or put it under Ins / outs or Updates (owner contact goes under Updates).
• Add Quick options staff can tap when they log it, such as "Soft" or "Diarrhea". Type one and press Enter.
• Turn on Doctors can put it on a schedule from Add orders to let doctors order the check.
• Use the arrows to reorder, or ✕ to remove. A removed check still reads correctly on old sheets.

Tap Add a check for a new one, then Save ins / outs. Nothing saves until you tap it, and Undo on the Saved message puts the old list back. houndkit's defaults next to the buttons puts back houndkit's starting list.

Add orders menu

On Orders → Add orders menu, choose what Add orders offers:

• Diagnostics: the tests doctors can pick, each with a result unit
• Fluid types: type one and press Enter
• Catheter types: which lines the catheter card offers
• Maintenance rates (mL/kg/day) and Dehydration steps (%) for the fluid planner

Tap Save menu. Changes show the next time the order panel opens.

Check Groups

A check group is a set of checks that run together on one timeline, such as kennel checks. On Orders → Check groups, tap Add group, name it, tap the checks to include, and choose how often it runs, either every few hours or one of your timing presets. Tap Save check groups. Doctors add a whole group from Add orders → Check group.

Order Sets

Order sets are saved from a patient's sheet with Save this sheet as a set. On Orders → Order sets you can:

• Tap a set to see its lines. Tap the ✕ on a line and confirm to take it out.
• Tap the pencil to rename it, change its description, or limit it to one species, then tap Save
• Tap the archive button and confirm to retire a set you no longer use. Restore it later from Retired.

These changes save straight away.

Sheets that already used a set keep their treatments.

Discharge Record

This controls the written-out stay that Copy for PIMS and the discharge box produce. Everything stays on the chart either way. Find it on Discharge & surgery → Discharge record. Each change saves as you make it, with Undo on the Saved message.

• Notes: include hospitalization notes, DVM notes, client updates and round notes, each on or off
• Treatments: Every dose, Only doses not given, or Leave out. With every dose, you can have doses charted together read as one line.
• Fluids, Catheters and Diagnostic results, each on or off
• Vitals: Every set, Outside ranges, or noted, or Leave out
• Ins / outs: per check, choose Every entry, Noted or abnormal, or Leave out. With Noted or abnormal, tap the options that count as abnormal.

Back to houndkit's defaults appears once you've changed anything.
