Quick patient notes

Updated September 25, 2026

The Patients tab on My Dashboard is a private scratchpad for the moments before you chart. Jot vitals and history during triage, then copy it all into your practice software in one go when you write the real record.

It's just for you. It isn't the medical record, and nobody else can see it.

Start an entry

  1. Open My Dashboard and choose the Patients tab.
  2. Tap New patient.
  3. Fill in what you have. Everything saves as you type.

You can also start one from any page: tap the pen icon in the header and choose New patient. It lands in your Patients tab.

What you can record

  • Patient name and Date of visit (today unless you change it)
  • DVM: tap a doctor's name, type another, or tap No DVM for a tech appointment or walk-in
  • Presenting complaint
  • Vitals: Wt, T, HR, RR, MM, CRT, FAS and Pain
  • Subjective / notes: the history in your own words

Copy it into the record

Under the entry, a preview shows exactly what will be copied, building itself as you type.

  • Copy for record copies the whole entry.
  • Vitals only copies just the vitals line.

Paste it into your practice software's note.

Keep the list tidy

  • When the real notes are written, tap Archive on the entry. Archived entries move to the Archived list, where Reopen brings one back.
  • The trash can deletes an entry for good.
  • Use Search patient, DVM… to find an entry.

You can have up to 30 open entries. Once you hit 30, archive the ones you've finished to make room.

Note

Don't see the Patients tab or the New patient shortcut? Your clinic admin has switched Patients off for the clinic.
