Help/Getting started

Your profile and preferences

Updated September 30, 2026

User Settings is where you set up how you appear to your team and how houndkit behaves for you. Everything here is just for you. Clinic-wide settings live in Clinic Settings, which only admins can open.

Open it from your avatar in the header, then User Settings. The page has five tabs:

  • Profile: your name, photo and colors
  • Profile card: what teammates see when they tap your name. See Profile cards.
  • Notifications: what reaches you by email and on your phone. See Choose your notifications.
  • Sign-in & security: your PIN, password and devices. See Set your PIN and password.
  • Preferences: personal display options

A small amber dot on Sign-in & security means you haven't set a PIN yet.

Update your profile

  1. On the Profile tab, tap Upload photo (or Change photo) to add a picture. JPG, PNG and WebP all work. Remove takes it off.
  2. Fill in First name, Last name, Preferred name and Job title. Your preferred name is what houndkit calls you everywhere. Leave it blank to use your first name.
  3. Set your Initials (up to three letters). They show on boards and wherever there's no photo.
  4. Pick a Background color and Text color for your initials badge. The previews update as you go.
  5. Tap Save profile.

Your Email and Access (for example "Team member at" your clinic) are shown for reference. You can't change them here. Your clinic admin sets your access.

Preferences

Home and dashboard

  • Hide open counts on tool cards drops the "N open" badges from the Clinic Dashboard, just for you.
  • Customize My Dashboard opens the dashboard's look-and-feel panel.
  • Magic Notes style (if your clinic uses Magic Notes) opens your writing rules and default template.

Shifts in your calendar (if your clinic uses Schedule)

Tap Show my calendar link, then Copy. Add that link as a subscribed calendar in Google, Apple or Outlook Calendar, and your published shifts show up there and stay up to date. Anyone with the link can see your shifts, so if it gets shared, tap Reset the link. The old one stops working everywhere.

Fetch (if your clinic uses Fetch)

  • Show me on the leaderboard puts your XP and streak on the clinic's board. It only appears if your clinic has the leaderboard switched on. Off keeps your progress private.
  • Sounds plays chimes for right answers. This one is saved on each device separately.
