Find your way around

Every houndkit page shares one header. Once you know its handful of buttons, you can reach any tool from anywhere.

Left side: where you are

• The houndkit logo takes you to the Clinic Dashboard, your clinic's shared home page. On phones it's just the houndkit bull terrier icon.
• Your clinic's name comes next. If you belong to more than one clinic, it's a menu for switching. See Switch between clinics.
• The tool name after the slash shows where you are (for example Clinic Dashboard or Taskboard). Tap it to open the Go to menu, a list of every tool you can use. The bottom of that menu has Submit a ticket for contacting houndkit support.

The Go to menu only lists tools your clinic has turned on and that you're allowed to open, grouped under Dashboard, Boards, Team and Clinic. My Dashboard and Clinic Dashboard are always there. Some tools sit inside another: the Surgery Calculator is a tab in Hospital, the Drug Log is under Logs, and Tug of War is in Games.

Right side: shortcuts

From left to right:

• Bell (Notifications): your alerts. Opening it marks them read. Mark all read and Clear all sit at the top, and the gear opens your notification settings.
• Sparkle (Fetch): a shortcut to today's lesson, if your clinic uses Fetch. It fills in once you've done today's lesson.
• Plus (Add): add a task, lab, On the Way patient or stock request, fill out a team form or add a log entry without leaving the page. See Add to a board from any page.
• Pen (Quick tools): New patient, New note, New to-do and Calculator. These open in a popup over your current page and save to your own My Dashboard.
• Person icon (My Dashboard): your private space.
• Briefcase (Management): the Management dashboard, for managers only.
• Padlock (Lock screen): lock houndkit right now, for example before you step away from a shared computer. See Locking and your PIN.
• Your avatar: the user menu.

Clinic admins can switch some quick tools off for the whole clinic, so you may not see all of them.

The user menu

Tap your photo or initials to open it:

• Clinic Settings (clinic admins only)
• My profile card
• My Dashboard
• Management (managers only)
• User Settings: your profile, notifications, PIN and preferences
• Help & how-to: these help pages, in a new tab
• Roadmap & ideas: see what's coming and suggest features
• Sign out

On a phone

The header gets tighter on small screens:

• The clinic name moves into the user menu, under Clinic (or Switch clinic if you have more than one).
• The Fetch shortcut moves into the user menu too.
• The My Dashboard icon is hidden. Use the user menu or the Go to menu instead.
• The tool name gets bigger, since it doubles as the page title.
